Is a national park in the northern Black Forest possible and useful? Requirements for assessment

Brief description

At the workshop "Is a National Park in the northern Black Forest possible and useful? Requirements for assessment" (24 September 2011, Bad Wildbad, Baden-Württemberg, Germany) about 350 participants from the Northern Black Forest discussed a range of themes in open groups, so-called Open Spaces, as well as in thematic workshops. These themes were:

  1. Regional economy, sawmill and wood industries
  2. Forestry, hunting and agriculture
  3. Societal interests
  4. Conservation
  5. Tourism
  6. Community development

The aim of the workshops was to gather questions that should be answered in one or more reports. All the Open Space sessions and the six workshops focused on the key question: "What questions should experts answer in a report about a possible national park?"
After the workshops and the Open Spaces, the moderators briefly raised some of the issues in the plenary. All the questions which were discussed within the open spaces and the workshops are listed in the final report. In addition, the conference was broadcast live on the Internet to offer those interested the opportunity to follow the work session.
