Brief description
As a research-intensive company, the DBI Group is conducting a scientific study on the requirements of industry, society and the environment for a sustainable CO₂ infrastructure system in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The study is part of a research project funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg, represented by the Ministry of Transport. The company Schwenk Zement GmbH & Co. KG awarded the study to the DBI Group. The aim of the study is to create the basis for an accelerated connection of CO₂ sources in Baden-Württemberg to a German CO₂ network or the networks of neighbouring regions for storage or utilization purposes, as well as the comparative assessment of non-pipeline-based options for CO₂ transport. The infrastructure must be created in such a way that the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) or the manufacture of products for the chemical industry is made possible.
DIALOGIK contribution
DIALOGIK has been subcontracted by DBI to conducting a sub-study on issues of social acceptance. The aim of this sub-study is to provide information on how social acceptance can be taken into account at an early stage in the planning and construction of a CO₂ infrastructure and the development and use of the required technologies (CO₂ capture and storage/CCS; CO₂ capture and utilization/CCU) in Baden-Württemberg as part of a forward-looking social acceptance assessment. Existing and possible future areas of conflict are identified and measures, especially in the areas of communication and participation, are formulated to proactively reduce potential conflicts. To this end, literature and document analyses and interviews with practice experts from business, associations, organized civil society and climate protection service organizations will be conducted.
