RISKOIL

Risk-benefit perception and conflict awareness of the Goliat oil field development in the Barent Sea

Brief description

The project analyses the risk-benefit communication and participation of the siting process for the Norwegian Goliat oil field development. The main objective of the study is a retrospective review of the decision making process seen through the lenses of the major stakeholders involved in this process. The main research question is to explore how in hindsight the main actors perceive this process, assess their own role and the role of other players in the process and evaluate the responsiveness of the industrial proposer and the regulators to their concerns and queries. Furthermore, the project develops further suggestions from the interviewed stakeholders about potential improvements of the process and recommendations for future siting processes.
